I have completed my work in progress, the follow up to Three Worlds Collide: Rise of the Demon Scorpion. I will release the title along with the cover reveal once the designer has completed it.
I have worked with many beta readers over the past couple years and have settled on a handful that are my favorite. One of them is Alice Creswell. She is an indie author based in Romania. I know right? Eastern Europe, so cool. She has an excellent command of the English language and an incredible ability to see and understand the depths of a story, and then recommend improvements an author could not dream of.
When we worked together on my romance-suspense-whodunnit novel, Low Men, her suggestions elevated that book to a story I dare say is something special. I decided to bring her over to work on my supernatural thriller/horror manuscript that is the follow up to Three Worlds Collide: Rise of the Demon Scorpion. I thought it best for her to read that novel since the next book picks up where that one ended. She was kind enough to write an editorial review:
Rise of the Demon Scorpion – Editorial Review
There aren’t many words to describe what one would feel after reading Rise of the Demon Scorpion. The most accurate would simply be “instant book hangover”. Definitely a memorable book with a remarkably well-written story.
The journey Gransom Hayes proposes for the reader is quite complex. A cartel drug lord, self-proclaimed The Alphabet King, brews a dark plan with the help of a demon he freed from the depths of the Ocean of Tar, from the In Between. He never expected his plans to be hindered by a mule who almost runs over a little girl. When the goods are confiscated by the police, The Alphabet King makes it a point to make someone pay for the loss, even if the persons he targets are the innocent girl who barely escaped with her life and her single mother.
The well-paced storyline and the strong character build will definitely make the readers keep turning the pages until there are none left. With a dynamic narrative, multiple POV’s, and several timelines, Hayes weaves a complex unforgettable story. A fantastic book, that I cannot recommend enough.
